Effect of Arogh, A Herbal Tea on Elevated Lipid Profiles in Rats

Abstract

Arogh, a polyherbal formulation was found to be effective in treating hypercholesteremia in rats. Increase in body weight, total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL and VLDL observed in cholesterol fed animals were attenuated by treatment with Arogh. It also reversed the histopathological changes produced in various organs by cholesterol supplementation. Liver and kidney function tests were not altered by either cholesterol or Arogh treatment. Arogh exerts a significant hypolipidemic effect, prevents atherosclerotic changes and reduces obesity in experimental animals.
